A Flat Imagination Workshop returns for an evening of experimental poetics, multimedia performance, and generative joy. We’re bringing together boundary-busting writers, ambient improvisation, and artists working in the slipstream of text, sound, and image.

J † Johnson (JJ, they/them) is the author of (punctum books, 2025), (punctum books, 2021), and (punctum books, 2018). JJ co-edits the horror poetics journal , is a staff writer at , and lives in Philadelphia.

Carlos Soto-Román is a poet, translator, and pharmacist. Author of 11 (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2023), he has also published Chile Project: [Re-Classified] (Gauss PDF, 2013), Bluff (Commune Editions, 2018), Common Sense (Make Now Books, 2019), Nature of Objects (Pamenar Press, 2019) and Alternative Set of Procedures (Rosa Press, 2023) among others. In addition, he is the author of the first translation of Charles Reznikoff’s Holocaust into Spanish. He hails from Santiago, Chile.

Before the main event, join us for the ambient open mic where we opens the floor for short readings, performances, or experiments under a wash of live ambient synth. Sign up in advance to claim a slot and disappear gently into the room.
